The Light Cinemas

John Sullivan, formerly of Warner and Village Cinemas and Keith Pullinger previously at Virgin and UGC, have set themselves the goal to ‘create world class cinemas that will provide exciting, highly inclusive, social venues in the communities they serve’. With their first cinema in Bucharest, Romania, an all digital eight screen development, and their second in Halle, Germany where they have been one of the first to introduce 3D to the market, John and Keith are well on their way to achieving their goal.

One element of their equipment choice that is aiding them in fulfilling their business’s needs has been their selection of the Vista Cinema system along with the Vista Plasma and Web modules. With Vista Cinema now installed in all three of their venues, including the recently opened and phenomenally successful Drive-In Cinema in Baneasa, Romania, The Light are assured that their operations will run smoothly, despite the geographical and cultural separation of their cinemas. They are able to receive reports with ease and ensure their business is run to its optimum. The Vista Web Module provides The Light’s customers with multiple sales channels, so that they can ensure that they do not miss out on the latest blockbuster releases.

In addition to The Light’s full digital offering, is the introduction of a Kraftwerk 6D screen at the Liberty Centre in Bucharest; 3D Video, Sound, Motion – what is the sixth dimension you ask? ......Water! I’m not sure about the water thing, but the customers are queuing up! The cinema is selling out for almost every performance, and it’s all managed from within the Vista Cinema system. Next year John and Keith will extend their coverage with more cinemas in Romania, and all being well, their first site in the United Kingdom.
